Trump Criticized for Sharing AI-Generated Video of Gaza

President of the United States Donald Trump posted a Deepfake AI-generated video representing rebuilt Gaza after the war into a Sea-side resort, crowded with a towering Golden statue of Trump, resulting in a backlash on his Truth Social platform and global forums. The video collected over 10.5 million views on Instagram and was shared 2400 times on Trump’s Truth Social network by Wednesday morning, some analysts are encouraged to question whether the US president’s accounts were hacked.

The 33-second video clip continues on Trump’s accounts without contradiction or denial after hours of posting on Tuesday night. The video named “Gaza 2025 What’s Next?” opens with people on a debris-strewn street becoming visible from a tunnel onto a beach with palm trees and yachts. Trump has suggested the idea of a US acquisition of Gaza under which its Palestinian population would be transferred – a project that has set off widespread condemnation.

Later he seemed to soften his plan, saying he was only suggesting the idea and admitting the leaders of Egypt and Jordan had rejected the proposal to move Palestinians against their will. In the clip on Social Media, the soundtrack includes the lyrics “Donald’s coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see” and “feast and dance, the deal is done, Trump Gaza number one.” The AI-generated video of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump sipping cocktails in swimsuits by a pool, while other clips presented Elon Musk dancing under the shower of cash on the beach. A larger-than-life golden statue of Donald Trump is also featured.

Users of Social Media reacted to the post with both support and criticism but many users questioned whether Trump had posted the montage himself. A UN expert and Amnesty International official criticize the video. In a post on X, UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights Francesca Albanese criticized the video as “absurd”. “What the new US administration is doing is very clear and planned called psychological overwhelming. They said that hitting us every day with XXL doses of confusing oratory and inconsistent policies serves to ‘control the script’ diverting and confusing us, normalizing the absurd, all while confusing global stability (and consolidating US control).”
