Pakistan Launched it’s First Anti-Smog Tower in Lahore

The department of Environmental Protection has established anti-smog tower in Lahore to control increasing Air pollution. The tower has been developed in partnership with a private company, the tower marks an important step in improving air quality of Lahore.

The anti-smog tower can filter 50,000 cubic metres of air every hour and purify 1.2 million cubic metres daily. The tower is situated in Mehmood Booti and it operates by using electrostatic technology to attract and destroy harmful pollutants from the air. Moreover, the structure was locally developed and manufactured by Islamabad-based company.

Director general of Environment Department, Imran Hamid Sheikh officially said that industrial emissions and waste dumping sites are playing major roles in polluting Air pollution. In addition to this, they have highlights the quality of controlling the harmful air.

According to officials, Government of Punjab is conducting a trial of 15 days to control air pollution. Moreover, if this tower gives effective results then more towers will be installed in other parts of Lahore.
