YouTube Demonetizes AI and Repetitive Content Under New Rules

YouTube has announced a major update to its Monetisation policy targeting AI-generated and repeated content. Starting from 15 July 2025, the platform will start demonetising channels that upload AI content or duplicate videos. The platform now focuses on rewarding the real creators making original and authentic content. YouTube’s new policy aims to restrict repetitive content and redefine what qualifies as inauthentic on the platform. Now, YouTube’s policy is to limit monetisation for creators who upload videos with boring or useless templates, which negatively impacts the user experience on the platform.

YouTube will also penalise faceless channels that are uploading useless content. It will focus on content generated with AI and does not include any human touch or any creative input. For monetisation eligibility, users have to share their voice, face, or perspective in their content; otherwise, they are not eligible for monetisation. Even the channels that are monetised will face penalties or be demonetised if they lack originality in their content. According to the new policy, AI-generated content will not be acceptable if it lacks human input in videos; otherwise, YouTube will ban AI content.

Users who are using AI voices or avatars must ensure their videos offer unique value, such as educational insights, commentary, or storytelling. YouTubers who make animated videos using AI may qualify for a reward if they use their own voice or make unique content. Creators who want to get rewards from the platform may avoid repetitive content or template-based content to avoid demonetisation. AI tools may be beneficial if they are used as an assistant. Storytelling and meaningful content in videos are crucial for all creators. YouTube plans to apply these new rules with the combination of both AI and human reviewers. YouTube will demonetise or suspend channels that do not follow the guidelines.
