The newly built Jinnah Square in Islamabad collapsed after heavy rain during the first monsoon of this season, raising concerns about the construction quality. The road near Serena Chowk collapsed a few weeks after its completion. The road collapsed, causing traffic disturbance and drawing public anger. The cost of this project is 4.2 billion rupees, and it was completed in just 84 days. It was praised as a model of speedy development by the Government.

A passenger at the site said, This is a barbarous joke on the taxpayers. If a heavy cost road can’t withstand a single rain of the monsoon. It reflects an alarming irresponsibility. It was reported that the road connecting G5 to Aabpara road had fallen after the heavy rain, which also affected the traffic and raised safety concerns for the public. Moreover, an independent investigation has been demanded by the construction experts into the project’s structural integrity.

Soon after the damage to the road, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) teams started the emergency repair. Moreover, the engineers and the public have raised doubts about the quality of the construction. In addition to this, the public is now urging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman to start a road inquiry and hold those responsible for any irresponsibility.
