After Kot Addu was announced as a district of Pakistan in 2022, no work had started to improve it; however, the Government of Punjab has now ordered Assistant Commissioner M. Asgher Iqbal and Deputy Commissioner Manwar Abbas Bukhari to enhance the city.
The Assistant Commissioner has initiated a cleaning process, installing garbage buckets along the G.T Road of Kot Addu. New garbage-carrying vehicles have also been launched in Kot Addu to take the rubbish and keep the city clean.

In January 2025, the Assistant Commissioner requested that the shopkeepers leave the government area next to GT Road while the road is being expanded and turned into a one-way road. Citizens are cooperating with the Government’s orders. Some shopkeepers had to shift their shops to new places which affected their sales and some shopkeepers are reconstructing their shops according to the orders.
Citizens have started rebuilding their shops, and soon the road will be expanded into a one-way street. Some citizens are affected by this new development but hopefully, it will ultimately benefit Kot Addu and its residents.
