Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said that the nuclear tests organised by Pakistan on 28 May 1998 (Youm-e-Takbir) brought back the Strategic balance and made Pakistan’s defence more powerful. On the day of Youm-e-Takbir, Sultan Mehmood conveyed a special message by saying that the programme of making Pakistan a nuclear power was started by the Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Sultan added that Bhutto played an extraordinary role in the programme. Sultan also praised the contribution of Benazir Bhutto to the development of Pakistan’s missile technology.

These developments in missile technology and Nuclear power have made Pakistan’s defence unbeatable. The president added that no one can even dare to attack Pakistan. While highlighting an early settlement of the Kashmir conflict, President AJK said: “Kashmir, a critical nuclear point between India and Pakistan, is the trigger of the Nuclear War between the two countries”. He said any incident, no matter what its size, can escalate into a big war between India and Pakistan, and possibly that can disrupt the peace of the whole world.

In addition, He said, the key to peace in South Asia is in the early and fair settlement of the Kashmir issue. The President of AJK, Sultan Mehmood, said, It is time that the International community should play its role in the long-term Kashmir issue to settle it, and calling Kashmiris the main stakeholders, he highlighted the presence of Kashmiri leadership in the meeting is important to find the permanent solution of the Kashmir issue.
