Mariel Franklin is a writer and artist based in London. She is known for her debut novel “Bonding“, to documents this digital era, and she is also interested in exploring online culture and its impacts on society. Franklin joined the University of Edinburgh, where she studied English literature, and at the University, she became interested in contemporary fiction and literary theory. She is continuing to explore the online culture and craft stories on it.

After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, she enrolled in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London. She became interested in oil paintings, and she started doing oil paintings by using online imagery and tools. After graduating from Goldsmiths, she began her career by working in data administration in the tech industry. Later, she began to write his first novel “Bonding”, during that time she spent her days in the square mile and her nights in the rarefied.
When Bonding was released, it met with widespread critical acclaim in the UK. After its release, it was praised by well-known journals like The Guardian, The Observer, The Financial Times, and famous novelist Zadie Smith recommended the novel for anyone interested in the intersection of technology, the body, and the mind. The Guardian praised it as “The best British debut” in years and later described it as a “fast, harsh, smart and fun satire of contemporary tech elites.” The Financial Times praised the novel’s intellectual depth, calling it “agile” and “thought-provoking.” This novel will be released in the United States in July 2025.
