A major announcement has been made, revealing that Quinton de Kock has rejoined the ODI squad for the upcoming Pakistan tour. He has returned to international cricket for ODI and is part of South Africa’s ODI and T20 squads. At the end of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Quinton de Kock had retired from ODIs and had not played for South Africa in any format following the end of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The return of De Kock is necessary for the squad as the Proteas focus on the upcoming white-ball challenges – the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup and the Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027.

Skipper Temba Bavuma has been injured during the England Tour and has been ruled out for the Pakistan tour. Pakistan will see new leaders of the South Africa team in different formats, while Aiden Markram will be the captain for the test format, Matthew Breetzke for the ODI squad, and the experienced David Miller will be the captain of the T20 format. The opening batters of South Africa are in good form during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The world Test championship holders will play their first test match on October 12 in Lahore, and after that, the second test match will be played in Rawalpindi on 20 October, and then three ODIs and three T20I matches will be played.
