Rachin Ravindra Got a Forehead Injury During Fielding

New Zealand Batter Rachin Ravindra got a forehead injury on Saturday while fielding in an ODI match against Pakistan. During fielding in the 38th over at deep square leg Ravindra held steady to take the catch of Kushdil Shah but lost the ball in the stadium’s floodlights and got an injury by the ball on his forehead. Medical Staff rushed onto the field as Ravindra seemed to be staring at the ground, looked dazed after getting hit by the ball and blood could be seen streaming down his face.

A shocked silence spread in the stadium when the medical team took a stretcher to the ground, however, the stretcher was not required. The Senior doctors of Pakistan were present near the incident and ran onto the ground to provide first aid to Rachin. While getting some treatment for a few minutes on the ground, after lying on the ground for some time Ravindra got up with the assistance of a medical team and walked off the ground by placing a towel on his head.

New Zealand Team Statement About Ravindra’s Injury

The New Zealand Cricket team said in a statement, “Ravindra was expelled from the ground after being hit by the ball on his head when he was attempting a catch in the 38th over. Rachin Ravindra got a forehead injury and got treatment on the ground, but otherwise, he is alright. In addition, recently, he came through his first HIA (Head Injury Assessment) well and will continue to be observed under HIA processes.”

At that time, Pakistan needed 132 runs on 75 balls with five wickets in hand and the New Zealand team was in the dominant position. Two overs before, Ravindra ended a short spell with the balls and sent down 3 overs. At first, Ravindra opened the batting and scored 25 runs on 19 balls. Moreover, The New Zealand team scored a total of 330 runs for 6.

During the Match before this incident, Haris Rauf a Pakistani Fast Bowler left the field with two balls into his seventh over, and later PCB said he had complained about “sharp pain in the left side of his chest and abdomen muscles” and then they confirmed it “low-grade side strain”. In addition, It was confirmed that Rauf will not come for batting during the Pakistan chase.

New Zealand’s next match is on Monday When they compete with South Africa in the second match of this Tri-series. While Pakistan will meet South Africa on Wednesday.
