In the Barkhan district on Tuesday night, Unidentified Gunmen killed 7 people after unloading them from the passenger bus who were traveling from Barkhan to Lahore city. On the Dera Ghazi Khan Barkhan Highway, 40 armed men stopped several buses and vehicles near Rakhni. Deputy Commissioner of Barkhan District Waqar Khurshid Alam said, “Armed men unloaded seven passengers by checking their identity cards and shot them.” He added, “All seven passengers traveling in the coach belonged to Punjab and were on their way to Lahore.

He said, “After offloading them from the coach, the gunmen gunned down them on the spot and attackers had managed to escape.” The bodies of seven dead persons were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Barkhan said that the FC and Levies personnel had arrived at the spot fenced in the area. Balochistan has observed a series of attacks targeting people who belong to Punjab.

In April 2024 near Noshki, 9 people were killed in two separate incidents after being forced off a bus, While in Kech two labourers from Punjab were killed. Last year in May, 7 barbers from Punjab were gunned down near Gwadar, While in August in the Musa Khail District, 23 travelers were forced off the buses and trucks and were killed by the attackers. Still, no group has confessed responsibility for the attack so far.
