Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Thursday that it is a disappointment for the Pakistan team as Fakhar Zaman was ruled out from the team and will not play the remaining matches due to his injury in the first match of the Champions Trophy 2025. Fakhar Zaman a left-handed batter got a muscular sprain during fielding in a game against New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium on 19 February. The incident happened when Fakhar stumbled on the ground while fielding which led to immediate withdrawal from the match. Later PCB confirmed that he was going through assessments and stayed updated for more details. Moreover, Fakhar Zaman will not accompany the Pakistan Team to the Dubai Tour.

The PCB said, “Fakhar’s injury is serious, he will not be able to play the remaining tournament.” The ICC Event Technical Committee has accepted the addition of Imam-ul-Haq to the team in place of Fakhar Zaman. The committee members are Wasim Khan, Usman Wahla, Sarah Edgar, and Shaun Pollock. His injury has increased the challenges of the Pakistan Team, especially after their 60-run defeat to New Zealand in the first Match of the Tournament.
